Antioxidants are substances that can prevent and resist the oxidation process of substances. It has a wide variety of types, ranging from low molecular weight to high molecular weight. There are both natural and synthetic.

Main antioxidant

Typical main antioxidants include the following two categories:

Aromatic amine antioxidants: Almost all amine antioxidants are derivatives of aromatic secondary amines, mainly including diarylamines, para ketoamines, and aldehyde amines. Most of them have good antioxidant effects, but are prone to color spots and are mainly used in the rubber industry and polyurethane products.

Hindered phenolic antioxidant: a widely used main antioxidant. The antioxidant efficiency is generally weaker than that of amine antioxidants, but there is no pollution, mainly used for plastics and light colored rubber products. Many products, such as antioxidant 1010 and antioxidant 1076, belong to this category

Auxiliary antioxidants

There are mainly two categories of thio esters such as thiodipropionate and phosphite esters. They are mainly used for polyolefins and produce synergistic effects when combined with phenolic antioxidants.

Phosphite is a widely used auxiliary antioxidant, with a typical product of 168.

Sulfides are another type of auxiliary antioxidant, typical products such as DLTDP and DSTDP

Metal passivator

When polymers come into contact with heavy metals, the catalytic effect of heavy metal ions can cause degradation reactions of polymers. For example, if the core wire of the cable material is copper, it often causes damage to the copper, so it is necessary to add copper ion passivators to greatly improve the stability of the polymer.

Polyolefins: polypropylene, polyethylene, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, LLDPE

Styrene: ABS, polycarbonate/ABS, IPS, GPPS

Elastomers: butadiene styrene rubber, butadiene rubber, EPDM rubber, SBS/SRS, thermoplastic elastomers

Polyvinyl chloride: Polyvinyl chloride Polyurethane: RIM, TPU

Engineering plastics: polycarbonate and polymethyl methacrylate
